It seems lately like everywhere we have ridden there's a Harley that has broken down. This is America and America should be able to build something that is dependable. HD should be ashamed. I know your thinking that most owners customize their Harleys and it's the their fault in not putting it back together correctly. But last week several of us where on a ride and when we mounted up to leave the Ice House the clutch on a brand new Harley would not engage. This machine had less than 200 hundred miles on it. We waited with the owner for two hours till the lift truck showed up.
Of our group none of Japanese bike jockeys could remember the last time they broke down. Several have toured more than 60,000 miles each without a single breakdown.
Yesterday I pasted a group of HD's and they had a truck with them with a Harley in the back in pieces. I gather from that when Harley's ride in groups that they have an extra vehicle follow with spare parts so they can get home.
What's important is reliability not image. Get something that when your straddle it, it goes.
Ride em hard and put em away wet.
